All About Me

Hello Spartans!

I’m a 5th-year teacher and proud CSULB alumna with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Education. I’m currently pursuing my Master’s degree and Administrative Credential as I continue to grow in my career.

My teaching philosophy is rooted in creating a supportive, inclusive classroom where all students feel seen, challenged, and empowered to grow—not just as readers and writers, but as thoughtful, confident individuals.

Current Roles at Gage Middle School:

  • ELA Department Chair: As the ELA Department Chair, I support our English team in creating engaging, standards-aligned instruction that helps students grow as critical thinkers, readers, and writers. I collaborate with colleagues to align curriculum, lead department meetings, and help drive a shared vision for student success in literacy.
  • 8th Grade Trip to DC & NY Leader: For the past three years I've organized and lead the 8th grade Washington, D.C. & New York trip to give students the chance to connect classroom learning to real-world experiences. My goal is for them to see the historical and cultural sites they’ve studied—and to envision the powerful places they can occupy in the future.
  • AVID Site Council Member: As a site member, I serve as a schoolwide advocate for issues of access and equity related to rigorous curriculum, engaging and culturally relevant teaching practices, and college readiness for all students.
  • EGI Certified:

I’m certified in Equitable Grading through LAUSD, which aligns with my commitment to creating a classroom where all students feel seen, supported, and fairly evaluated. I believe grading should reflect what students know and can do—not their behavior, background, or barriers—so I use practices that prioritize growth, effort, and meaningful learning.

Previous Experience at Gage Middle School:

  • Leadership Advisor (2022-2023, and 2023-2024)
  • PBIS Member (2022-2023, and 2023-2024)

2025 West Ed Conference

Fun Fact: In September of 2024 I got to be part of a panel of teachers at the West Ed Conference in Washington DC. While it was such a surreal moment, I am proud to have been able to be the voice of my students and their experience with the West Ed Curriculum.
